Ursula came to the Turtle Conservancy as a volunteer in 2014. She's worked in many different fields, including nightclub management, concert production, property management, public relations, litigation paralegal, art collection manager, and now turtle nanny. Ursula has a B.A. summa cum laude in psychology from California State University, though she's not sure why. She is an honors graduate of the UCLA Paralegal Program.
Ursula handles the record-keeping for the collection, making sure all animals are accounted for, preparing necessary permits and loan agreements, and organizing international shipments. She especially enjoys accessioning the little hatchlings and observing their development. Her work with turtles and tortoises is in part making amends for her childhood antics when she used to ride the giant Galapagos tortoises at the San Diego Zoo. Fortunately, we've become more enlightened since!
