Stuart Salenger, well known for his work with Aldabra Tortoises, has partnered with the Turtle Conservancy to create a new assurance colony of Radiated Tortoises on his new property in Florida.

Saving a Mountain in Mexico

The Turtle Conservancy has secured 1,000 acres of Tropical Deciduous Forest in southern Sonora, Mexico, for the protection of the newly described Goode’s Thornscrub Tortoise. The habitat of the tortoise will also help save an incredible amount of biodiversity. Over a 4 day bioblitz conducted on the reserve by an international group of researchers, the team captured or observed 28 species of reptiles, 10 amphibians, six fish, two mountain lions and two jaguars.

The Turtle Conservancy recently returned from a three week tour in Indonesia. The team held meetings with conservation groups and animal dealers about ways to help the two endemic species on the island of Sulawesi, the Sulawesi Forest Turtle and the Forsten's Tortoise.
