Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is offering members the chance to vote and help Turtle Survival Alliance secure funds to save these magnificent little tortoises.
Wild turtle species are in the midst of a worldwide extinction crisis! Winning this competition will help Turtle Survival Alliance conduct community awareness training and research to protect the Critically Endangered African Pancake Tortoise and its habitat in Kenya. These tortoises face severe threats not only from grassland habitat destruction used for farming, but also from the additional threat of poaching for the pet trade.
With Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Turtle Survival Alliance will use this project to raise awareness in the local communities for newly found Pancake Tortoise populations, aiming to secure stable populations and the tortoise’s landscape.
The top three projects in Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's competition will be FULLY funded!
