Internships
The Turtle Conservancy welcomes a small number of undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary interns each year. Ideally, applicants show strong interest in animal biology, veterinary medicine, or natural history collections. We request a minimum of a 4-week internship, with the expectation our interns complete a research project and present it in their last week.

Job Description
Turtle Conservancy is seeking a friendly and professional tour guide to provide our guests with an exceptional experience while visiting our conservation center. In this role, you will be responsible for engaging visitors for the duration of the tour, sharing interesting facts about turtle conservation and answering any questions they may have.
About the Turtle Conservancy
The Turtle Conservancy (TC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting the most endangered turtles and tortoises and their habitats worldwide. Established in 2005, the TC’s Conservation Center, located in Ojai CA, is an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) certified institution housing over 500 chelonians representing more than 40 taxa.
Primary Responsibilities
- Greeting and welcoming guests to the TC’s conservation center
- Informing supporters about the history and work that the TC is doing to protect turtles and their habitats
- Conducting a brief walkthrough of the center and lay out stickers, magazines, and any merchandise before the tour
- Educate guests about the many species of turtles and tortoises at our center and their conservation status’
- Engage visitor curiosity and answer questions
- Ability to present to small and large crowds and work well with large groups of children
- Guest/Customer Service Skills: must have knowledge of principles for providing quality customer service. This includes understanding guest needs, meeting quality standards for service, and guest satisfaction.
