Lydia Lozano Angulo

Lydia holds a degree in zoology from the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa. During her early professional years, she collaborated with different international research and conservation groups focused on sea turtles and birds. Soon after, she expanded into working with various nonprofit organizations with a more comprehensive vision for conserving ecosystems and species, which included land conservation, community engagement, environmental education and research. For almost a decade she ran the México conservation program for Nature and Culture International where her expertise resulted in the effective establishment and management of several private and state protected areas. In 2019 she was given the Disney Conservation Hero award for her work preserving México´s diverse ecosystems. More recently she has been collaborating with other conservation groups on the creation of new protected areas and regional conservation plans. She has been supporting the Turtle Conservancy Mexico program for several years now on the land acquisition, reserve creation and management program. She is the executive director of the Northern Jaguar Project.
